About GermanyTalent

Free, source-verified eligibility information for the EU Blue Card and Chancenkarte. No law firm. No ads. No hidden upsells.

What this is

GermanyTalent helps skilled professionals from India, the Philippines, Nigeria, and other countries understand whether they qualify for a German work visa — and what documents they need to apply. The site covers the EU Blue Card (§ 18g AufenthG) and the Chancenkarte (§ 20a–20b AufenthG), in detail specific to your profession, degree, and country of application.

Every guide is based on primary German government sources only: the German Residence Act (Aufenthaltsgesetz), BAMF publications, the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt), and Make it in Germany. We do not cite law firm blogs, immigration forums, third-party summaries, or outdated guidance.

What we are not

We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice, creates an attorney-client relationship, or should be relied upon in place of qualified legal counsel. German immigration law is specific to individual circumstances — if your situation is complex, consult a qualified immigration lawyer.

We are not affiliated with BAMF, the Auswärtiges Amt, any German embassy or consulate, or any German government body. We have no commercial relationship with Fintiba, Coracle, Expatrio, or any other financial service provider we mention by name.

How we verify content

Primary sources only

Every factual claim on this site must trace back to a primary government source:

What we do not use

We do not cite: law firm blog posts, immigration agency marketing content, Reddit or forum posts, third-party visa guide aggregators, or news articles. When a claim appears on a law firm blog but not in the primary legislation or a BAMF publication, we do not use it.

How we handle law changes

German immigration law changes regularly. When a change takes effect — salary threshold updates every January, legislative reforms, new agency guidance — we update all affected pages as soon as the new rules are in force and record the change in our update log on the homepage.

Despite our best efforts, no website can guarantee real-time accuracy with German immigration law. Always verify current requirements directly with the relevant German mission before submitting any visa application.

The eligibility wizard

The GermanyTalent eligibility tool applies the published criteria from § 18g AufenthG (EU Blue Card) and § 20a–20b AufenthG (Chancenkarte) to your answers. It produces an indicative result — not a legal determination. The result tells you whether, based on what you have told us, your situation appears to meet the published eligibility criteria. It does not constitute a visa decision, a legal opinion, or a guarantee of any outcome.

If the wizard indicates you likely qualify and you want to proceed, we can connect you with a vetted immigration lawyer. The connection is optional and there is no obligation.

How we select immigration lawyers

When a user opts in to a lawyer referral after completing the eligibility check, we share their contact details and eligibility summary with lawyers in our network who handle the relevant visa type and applicant country. We do not endorse specific lawyers as superior to others, and we are not responsible for advice given by referred lawyers. Lawyers in our network are German-registered Rechtsanwälte or Fachanwälte für Ausländerrecht (immigration law specialists).
