EU Blue Card Germany — Nigerian Applicants 2026

Germany’s employer-sponsored work visa for highly qualified Nigerian professionals. Requires a job offer, a recognised degree (B.Sc. CS or B.Eng. CE from most Nigerian universities qualifies), and a salary above the statutory threshold.

HND holders: A Higher National Diploma from a Nigerian polytechnic does not qualify as a recognised degree for the EU Blue Card standard route. However, the IT exception (§ 18g(2) AufenthG) allows HND holders with 3+ years of professional IT experience to apply with a job offer — see the relevant profession guide for details.
