Do you qualify?
Short answer: as a Nigerian cloud engineer with a recognised B.Sc. degree, you can qualify. The Chancenkarte requires a formal qualification — HND does not qualify, and cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure) do not substitute for a degree.
The Chancenkarte lets you search for cloud engineering roles in Germany for up to 12 months. Convert to a EU Blue Card once you have an offer.
HND and cloud certifications: what does not qualify
HND from a Nigerian polytechnic — below ISCED level 6, does not qualify as a formal higher-education degree.
AWS, GCP, Azure certifications — vendor credentials, not formal qualifications. Do not unlock any Chancenkarte route.
Which route applies to you?
| Your situation | Route |
|---|---|
| B.Sc. CS / B.Eng. CE (4–5 years) from H+ university | Route 1 — no points needed |
| Degree from H+/- university, programme not listed | Route 2 — 6 points required |
| HND or certifications only | Not eligible for Chancenkarte |
Check your institution at anabin.kmk.org/anabin/institutionen.

Frequently asked questions
Do cloud certifications count toward the Chancenkarte?
No. AWS, GCP, and Azure certifications are vendor credentials — not formal degrees or state-recognised qualifications. They have no direct role in the Chancenkarte qualification routes.
How long does the Chancenkarte take to process for Nigerian applicants?
Processing at the German Embassy Abuja or Consulate General Lagos typically ranges from 6 to 14 weeks. Apply well ahead of your planned travel date.
