For the passenger vessels we are looking for an:
IT Communication Officer (f/m/o)
Position Summary
The IT Officer is responsible for the overall condition of all IT Systems on board. This includes all server & PC systems with their operating systems.The broadband internet connection system, the e-mail communication systems and standard-office applications. He is responsible for:
- Maintenance of hardware as wells as for all software related issues (configuration, updating and administration)
- Administrating the access permission of users including passwords.
- The security of IT Systems (virus protection, protection against unauthorized system access, protection of security sensitive information)
- User Induction and software training and gives support in all issues related to the IT hard-and-software under his responsibility
- Taking care of IT spare parts and economical use of all IT stores and spare parts.
- The careful handling of all equipment and machinery in his/her area of responsibility.
- Reporting to his Superior all accidents, near misses, deviations from operational routines and improvements that have a bearing on
Safety,security, environmental protection.
- The IT Officer has the authority to issue instructions related to system maintenance and security to all IT users.
- IT Communications Officer is familiar with “CHIEF ENGINEER STANDING ORDERS” and follows all rules of safety and pollution prevention
asestablished on board and he is up to date and familiar with RCG’s SQM SYSTEM” In case of emergency, he acts according to the Muster
List.
Financial Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Update maintenance work on the Planned Maintenance System.
- Assist the Chief Engineer with the department budget proposals, keep a thorough check on all expenditures and base his requirements
andrecommendations on sound economic values.
- Additional routines and work as assigned the Chief Engineer.
- Telephone exchanges, including related equipment like telephone sets and personal pagers.
- All UPS systems including batteries and emergency lighting UPS, responsibility shared with Electrical team onboard.
- Camera Surveillance System
- responsibility shared with Electrical team onboard.
Qualifications:
Hiring Requirements
- Minimum of two years previously in similar position.
- Ability to apply customer service skills, according to Pillars of Safety, Service and Style, when interacting with guests and coworkers.
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
- STCW95 and social responsibility training
- Ability to interpret ship's electric drawings and prepare job orders.
- Good communication/social skills.
- Ability to plan projects, assign priorities, resolve problems and to work without supervision.
- Ability to supervise others.
- Strong character
- Solid professional ethics
- Well-tempered and well mannered.
Language Requirements
- Ability to speak English and German clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English an German in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive
instructionsin written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and
co-workers.
