Das Zentrum für Bildung und Chancen gGmbH is committed to improving educational opportunities for children and young people, helping them become more independent of their background or social circumstances. To achieve this, we run projects with daycare centers and primary schools in the Gütersloh district and the OWL region. As part of this work, we develop digital solutions that support schools and municipalities in tracking learning and developmental progress and managing educational processes based on data. With our Diagnose-Center Online-ABC, we are building a platform that consolidates existing and future diagnostic tools and continues to develop them technically. To support this technical expansion, we are looking for a **Software Developer / Full-Stack Developer (m/f/d)** 80–100% | Start: as soon as possible, initially fixed-term until 12/2028 (extension intended) | Location: Gütersloh **Your responsibilities** You will further develop our Diagnose-Center, working closely with our scientific advisory team and project teams, and taking technical responsibility for: - Design, programming, and ongoing development of our web-based diagnostic tools for schools - Maintenance and modernization of existing software modules based on our current stack (PHP, MySQL, JavaScript incl. jQuery/Ajax) - Conception and development of new online tools, such as digital questionnaire and survey tools with automated, standardized evaluations - Conducting tests, bug management, and quality assurance - Third-level support (regional administrators, project teams) - Creating and maintaining technical documentation and contributing to user manuals - Technical consulting for the project manager on data structure questions for municipal dashboards - Collaboration with external service providers when Diagnose-Center modules are connected to municipal platforms (e.g., data transfers, interface questions) - Collaboration with external service providers on hosting, deployment, and support **Your profile** Required technical competencies (These requirements stem from the existing architecture and are essential for continuity.) - Completed degree or vocational training in computer science, software development, or a related field - Very good German language skills, spoken and written, at least at C1 level - Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript - Confident use of HTML/CSS; knowledge of jQuery and Ajax - Experience with Linux servers (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu) and web server configuration - Confident handling of databases and server structures - Basic understanding of IT security and data protection (GDPR) - Experience with tools such as Git, Composer, SSH, and Cron - Willingness to work closely with the external scientific advisory team, which co-develops the system from a subject-matter perspective - Experience developing interactive web-based tools, ideally including form or survey systems - Understanding of data validation, data collection, and standardized evaluation logic (e.g., tables, key metrics, automated reports) **Desirable competencies** - Experience with agile project management (OKR, Scrum, or similar) - Ability to incrementally modernize existing software (frameworks, modularization, testing, security) - Experience working with and analyzing quantitative datasets - Enjoyment of working in a multi-disciplinary team (social science, education, law, IT) - Self-initiative, analytical thinking, and a structured working style **What we offer** - The opportunity to build a forward-looking diagnostic center that will be deployed in schools multiple times per year - Room to shape technical development and modernization - The opportunity to develop new digital tools for schools and municipalities, such as survey and diagnostic tools with automated evaluations - A respectful, multi-disciplinary team - Flexible working hours, hybrid work, modern equipment - Thorough onboarding into the existing codebase and subject-matter context - Training and professional development opportunities - Meaningful work at the intersection of education and digital innovation We look forward to receiving your application addressed to Nicole Hollenbach-Biele.
