Process automation plays a central role in this and is one of the core responsibilities of the Bavarian State Office for Taxation (BayLfSt). With over 2,000 employees, the agency serves as a competent IT service provider for tax administration and the justice system. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a candidate to join us at our location in **Nuremberg** at the earliest possible date: ## Machine Learning Engineer (f/m/d) - ID 171 You bring structure to large, unstructured datasets — and turn them into actionable insights. As part of an agile team, you develop data-driven applications with a focus on document analysis, from data exploration and proof-of-concept implementation through to production deployment within an MLOps pipeline. **Your responsibilities:** - Use case development - Development of scalable, maintainable data pipelines in Python - Classification and clustering using appropriate machine learning methods - Application of large language models for complex classification and extraction tasks - Statistical analysis and exploratory data evaluation - Deployment of ML models and pipelines into production - Communicating results within and outside the organization **Your qualifications:** - Completed university degree (Bachelor / Diplom FH) in an IT-related field (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar), or alternatively: equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through relevant professional experience - At minimum very good German language skills (C1 level) **Desirable:** - Good English skills - Confident use of new IT technologies - Experience with: • Python • Machine Learning (scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) • LLM Integration (APIs, Prompt Engineering) • NLP & Embeddings • Statistics • MLOps • SQL • Git • Agile working methods (SCRUM) - Strong communication skills - Structured analytical thinking **What you can expect from us:** - Start date at the earliest possible time - Compensation according to TV-L (public sector pay scale) - Flexible, family-friendly working arrangements (up to 80% remote work, part-time options) - Secure employment - A varied, future-oriented, and responsible area of work - Individual development opportunities - Strong training and continuing education options in an innovative environment - Thorough onboarding - Positive working atmosphere and collegial team spirit The Free State of Bavaria actively promotes equal opportunity for all employees.
